Houston, Texas – February 12, 2003 — Texas Children's Hospital and PROS Revenue Management, a world leader in pricing and revenue optimization science and software, and the pioneer and dominant provider of revenue optimization to the airline industry, today announced they have been chosen as finalists for the prestigious Edelman award for their work in hospital optimization.
The Edelman award is the most esteemed honor conferred by the Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS), the largest society of management scientists in the world. The award is granted annually as the result of an intense, worldwide competition. Finalists are chosen from a long list of carefully researched nominations.
"The work has profoundly impacted how we look at our business, and has helped us manage an increasingly complex healthcare reimbursement system" said Christopher M. Born, Sr. Vice President, Texas Children's Hospital. "By providing a better understanding of our contracts and future resource utilization, the PROS Hospital Optimization System puts us in a much better position to price and manage our resources effectively."
Andrew Boyd, Chief Scientist for PROS, expressed his enthusiasm. "This is very exciting for all of us. The entire Texas Children's team has done outstanding work, and I'm delighted to see it is being recognized. Simply being chosen as a finalist is quite an honor."
Finalists must complete scholarly papers and give presentations before a panel of judges at the annual INFORMS Practice Conference, to be held at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass in Phoenix, Arizona, May 4-6, 2003.
