PROS Chief Scientist Andrew Boyd Elected Chair of the INFORMS Revenue Management and Pricing Section

PROS, a world leader in pricing and revenue optimization science and software, announced today that Chief Scientist Andrew Boyd has been elected to serve as Chair of the Revenue Management and Pricing Section of INFORMS, the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences. With a membership of approximately 11 thousand, over half of which are from universities, INFORMS is the premier organization in the United States dedicated to helping solve industry problems using mathematics.

“I’m honored to be elected,” said Boyd. “Academic research in revenue management and pricing is expanding at a phenomenal pace, receiving the attention of some of the brightest people out there.” At a recent INFORMS national meeting, a search on the words “price,” “pricing,” or “revenue management” in the title yielded a total of 320 presentations.

“PROS has always maintained a relationship with the academic community at large in an effort to deliver the very best science to our customers,” said Boyd. “During my tenure as Section Chair, I hope to substantially increase the Section’s membership and continue to get the word out to industry.  Most businesses haven’t really begun to look at all the options that can be done to improve their present pricing practices.”

PROS has been a long time supporter of the Revenue Management and Pricing Section; and in June of 2006 is once again a major financial sponsor of the Section’s annual meeting, which to date has been hosted by either Columbia University or MIT. “The meeting is an outstanding venue for academicians and industry scientists to share ideas,” said Boyd. “Overall, it’s on the mathematical end of the spectrum, but it’s always thought provoking.
