PROS Announces New Book: The Future of Pricing
New book by Dr. E. Andrew Boyd, PROS Chief Scientist, explores important lessons in pricing

Houston, Texas – October 10, 2007 PROS Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: PRO), a world leader in pricing and revenue optimization science and software for manufacturing, distribution, services, hotel/cruise, and airlines, announces the release of Dr. E. Andrew Boyd’s latest work on Pricing Science and Management.

Chief Scientist Dr. Boyd, recently named a Fellow by The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), has over 25 scholarly publications to his credit, numerous research grants from agencies such as the National Science Foundation and the Federal Aviation Administration, and has written several technical articles and book chapters.  Dr. Boyd is also an active participant at industry conferences on pricing and revenue optimization including the upcoming 14th Annual PROS Pricing Excellence Summit April 20-23 in Houston, Texas.

The Future of Pricing: How Airline Ticket Pricing Has Inspired A Revolution leads the reader through the history and future of pricing and revenue management science.  Using first hand accounts, interviews, anecdotes, and examples, Dr. Boyd leads a guided tour through pricing concepts that are revolutionizing the way companies approach profitable growth.

“This book is a must read for anyone who has ever thought about pricing,” says reviewer Laura Preslan, Industry Solutions Director for Microsoft.  Dr. Boyd in a recent interview added, “The shift toward rational, scientific pricing is inevitable.”  Dr. Boyd continues, “Those companies that don’t learn how to take advantage of the brave new world of pricing will ultimately be driven out of business.”

A McKinsey Study found that on average a 1% improvement in price translates to an 11% improvement in operating profit.  Dr. Boyd’s book explores how pricing and revenue focused efforts consistently outperform CRM, ERP, and other recently popular process automation technologies.  Rooted in the early days of travel industry computerized reservation systems and rudimentary yield management tools, Price Management Software is expected to become a billion dollar market by 2010.
